QuikTune QT2 Automatic Chromatic Tuner

QuikTune QT2 Automatic Chromatic TunerThis QuikTune tuner is quick, automatic and the most reliable tuner on the market for tuning your drum. Tuning is accomplished with the aid of a meter and LED's to help center the note being tuned. Once you have used your TMD to put your drum in tune with itself this intelligent tuner will show you your pitch automatically. Not only does it tell you the concert pitch note that you are tuned to but it also tells where in a range of 100 cents/semi-tone how much sharp or flat of the pitch you are. It can be calibrated for different uses. The pitch calibration can be set in a range from "A" 436 to 445Hz. Special features include a liquid crystal display that can be read regardless of the weather conditions. Rain or shine the QT is very readable. A great automatic tuner at a fantastic price.

TMD (Tympanic Measuring Device)

TMD (Tympanic Measuring Device)The Tympanic Measuring Device is the ultimate for tuning. It's precision is impeccable and gives the drummer confidence in playing with accuracy and great sound. For accurate tuning, always ensure that the head is horizontal on the drum being tuned, and never try to take a reading in a place that has muffling under the head.

Place the TMD on the head in front of the tension point where the bolt or claw is. Measure each tension point before making any adjustments. Pick any reading from one of the zones as a starting point. Make adjustments to each tension point until they all read the same number. This may take going around the drum 2 or 3 times at first. You will want to do this to both heads if they can be tuned independently of each other.

If you are tuning a Hosbilt you need to only do one head, the other will tune itself. Once the zones are all at equal tension the fundamental note of the drum speaks clearly. Using a chromatic tuner, such as the QuikTune QT2, check by striking the drum softly with a mallet. Compare the reading to your ultimate goal and make the necessary adjustments.
